B2B agencies.

B2B marketing is the discipline of building demand and pipeline among business buyers, who buy in committees of six to ten people, spend most of the journey researching anonymously, and commit over months rather than minutes. It is distinct from B2C in cycle length, account value, and the regulatory carve-out that allows email to corporate subscribers without prior consent.

Editor's note
AgencyIndex lists 17 UK agencies that position primarily into B2B as an industry, distinct from agencies that take the occasional B2B brief inside a broader generalist book. They split four ways: ABM specialists running 1:1 and 1:few programmes against enterprise account lists, demand-gen shops focused on mid-market pipeline through LinkedIn paid and intent data, B2B brand and positioning consultancies that work upstream of the funnel, and sector-tilted shops handling B2B SaaS, professional services, and manufacturing-adjacent categories (with material overlap into the IT and technology listings). The sector is distinct for four reasons. Gartner's 2024 buying-group research puts the average B2B purchase decision at six to ten stakeholders, with around 80% of the journey completed before any direct vendor contact. Sales cycles run long: median UK SaaS cycles sit near 84 days, but enterprise deals above £100k ACV regularly take 6-12 months once procurement, security review, and legal are involved. Intent data platforms (Bombora, 6sense, Demandbase, Cognism) now feed targeting and timing decisions. And PECR Regulation 22 treats corporate subscribers differently from individuals, which means unsolicited email to a limited company is permitted in a way that B2C marketers cannot rely on. What is shifting in 2026 is the rebalance between brand and demand. Research from the LinkedIn B2B Institute with Professor John Dawes at the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute has driven the 95-5 framing into mainstream B2B planning: at any moment roughly 95% of buyers are out-of-market, so mental availability among future buyers matters as much as conversion among in-market ones. Binet and Field's IPA work points to a 46/54 brand-to-activation split for B2B. AI is reshaping ABM personalisation and intent scoring. Founder-led and employee-led content (the so-called creator model) is pulling B2B distribution onto LinkedIn personal feeds. And GEO and AEO are starting to matter for the research queries that used to be Google's territory.

Regulatory landscape
PECR · ICO · ASA
B2B email carve-out plus standard data and advertising rules

PECR Regulation 22 contains a B2B carve-out: unsolicited marketing email and SMS to corporate subscribers (limited companies, LLPs, Scottish partnerships, government bodies) does not require prior consent, though sole traders and most ordinary partnerships are treated as individuals and need consent or a valid soft opt-in. The ICO still requires a clear sender identity and a working opt-out on every message, and UK GDPR continues to apply to any named individual at a business address, which covers most usable B2B data. PECR Regulation 6 (cookies and similar technologies) applies regardless of audience, so B2B websites need the same consent banner discipline as B2C. The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 raised PECR's maximum fine from £500,000 to £17.5 million or 4% of global turnover. The Advertising Standards Authority enforces the CAP Code on B2B product claims in ads and on websites.

Specialist signals
5 signals
of real B2B experience
  • · Named B2B case studies reporting pipeline value, ACV uplift, win-rate change or deal velocity, not just MQL or lead-volume metrics
  • · Working fluency with ABM platforms (6sense, Demandbase, RollWorks, Mutiny) and third-party intent providers (Bombora, Cognism), with examples of intent-triggered plays
  • · Documented buying-committee mapping inside accounts: who the economic buyer, technical buyer, champion and blockers are, and how content and outreach are sequenced to each
  • · A coherent view on the 95-5 split between in-market and out-of-market buyers, drawing on the LinkedIn B2B Institute and Ehrenberg-Bass work on mental availability and brand-building
  • · Sales and marketing alignment as a deliverable: shared account plans, agreed SQL definitions, closed-loop reporting from MQL through to closed-won inside a CRM, not isolated marketing dashboards
Sector watch-outs
5 to watch
in any B2B pitch
  • · Lead-volume promises with no pipeline math: MQL counts and form fills with no link to opportunity stage, ACV or closed revenue
  • · B2C playbooks applied to long-cycle B2B: heavy reliance on Meta retargeting, conversion-rate tactics built for impulse purchase, and timelines that ignore the 6-12 month enterprise norm
  • · Weak buying-committee mapping: ICP defined only as a job title and company size, no plan for reaching the other five to nine people in the decision group
  • · ABM tooling without strategy: a Demandbase or 6sense licence pitched as the programme, with no account selection rationale, no tiered treatment, and no signal-to-play sequencing
  • · Gaps on PECR Regulation 6 even when Regulation 22 is handled: missing or broken cookie consent on the website, mixed consent state between ads platforms, and no documented record of consent for the individuals being marketed to under UK GDPR

Curated by humans

UK B2B retainers split into three rough bands. Boutique shops and senior freelancers run £3,000-8,000 a month for a focused brief such as LinkedIn paid plus content, or a single 1:few ABM motion against 30-100 named accounts. Mid-market B2B specialists sit at £8,000-25,000 a month for integrated demand gen covering paid, organic, ABM activation, intent triage and pipeline reporting. Strategic ABM and full-service B2B agencies bill £25,000-60,000 a month for tier-1 1:1 programmes, brand work, and multi-market activation. Platform costs sit outside agency fees: 6sense and Demandbase licences typically land at £40,000-150,000 a year depending on account volume, Cognism and ZoomInfo at £15,000-60,000, and LinkedIn paid media at whatever the campaign requires. Project work like positioning sprints or website rebuilds is usually scoped separately at £20,000-150,000.
