Editor's note
Interpublic Group of Companies (IPG) was headquartered in New York and listed on the NYSE under the ticker IPG. At the end of 2024 the group reported revenue of $10.7bn (down 1.8% year on year) and around 51,000 staff across all major markets. CEO Philippe Krakowsky, in post since 2021, ran a portfolio organised around three creative networks (McCann Worldgroup, FCB, MullenLowe Group), the IPG Mediabrands media and data arm (UM, Initiative, Mediahub, KINESSO, Acxiom), and a PR group (Weber Shandwick, Golin, FutureBrand). On 9 December 2024 Omnicom Group announced an all-stock acquisition of IPG, and the deal closed on 26 November 2025 after antitrust clearance from the European Commission, the UK CMA, and a consent order from the US Federal Trade Commission. The combined company trades as Omnicom Group (NYSE:OMC) with pro forma revenue above $25bn and is run by Chairman and CEO John Wren, with Krakowsky now Co-President and Chief Operating Officer alongside Daryl Simm. Legacy Omnicom shareholders hold roughly 60.6% of the combined business, legacy IPG shareholders 39.4%. Omnicom set a $750m annual cost-saving target and confirmed around 4,000 role reductions across the merged group. 4 of the 818 UK agencies in the AgencyIndex directory currently sit under the IPG ownership-model tag, all on the media side of the old IPG Mediabrands stack: UM, Initiative, Mediahub, and KINESSO. All four work out of The Bailey at 16 Old Bailey in the City of London, the IPG Mediabrands UK flagship that opened in 2023 and houses roughly 700 staff across the media, data, and specialist brands. The creative McCann London, MullenLowe London, and FCB Inferno offices sit in the same network in different London buildings but are not separately listed in the AgencyIndex directory. What is shifting now is the post-merger restructure announced on 2 December 2025. Omnicom confirmed it will retire the FCB, MullenLowe, and DDB brands: FCB will fold into BBDO, and MullenLowe and DDB into TBWA, with the new creative organisation (Omnicom Advertising) sitting under former TBWA CEO Troy Ruhanen. McCann is retained as a standalone network. On the media side, IPG Mediabrands is being merged with Omnicom Media Group, and Acxiom plus KINESSO are being positioned alongside Omnicom's Omni platform as the data and AI spine of the combined company. Buyers briefing former IPG networks in 2026 are effectively briefing Omnicom, and any agency-roster note older than December 2025 is now out of date.
